Overview Dec. 7 - Dec. 11

Letterland - Our next unit will include words with the vowel groups ar and or. Please make sure students complete their word work each day in their journals, take the pretest, play the games and take the final test on Friday (Vocabulary A to Z).

Reading - We started our unit Fossils and Paleontologist this week. We have been learning about Mary Anning, a paleontologist who lived on the coast of Lyme Regis. Next week we will be reading the story of her life and discussing how paleontologist use tools to dig up fossils. We will also be retelling the story, learning how to use events, characters and settings to write about the beginning, middle, and end.

Math: The students have enjoyed learning how to tell time on an analog clock. Please continue having them practice to the 5 minute mark. We will begin learning about arrays and how they are arranged in rows and columns. They will also learn how to write an equation to express the total of a sum of equal addends (4+4+4=12).

Social Studies: We enjoyed learning about timelines, how they are used, and how to gain important information about them. They created thier own timelines last week and I enjoyed learning more about your children. This week we will be researching historical figures and thier impact on society.
